BIO – ALAN HEALY
Alan Healy, an Irish Australian artist and musician from Dublin, Ireland), studied painting and sculpture in Dublin, England and Italy before coming to Australia. In Australia, he attended the National Art School (NAS) with the idea of entering into the Australian art world. Apart from NAS, he took further studies at Sydney University where he obtained his Master in Studio Art and Master of Fine Arts with Honours. His passion in painting is portraiture and animals, especially the cow. His media is mostly oils for painting and mixed media in his drawing.
Literature has influenced much of his work, particularly Beckett, Joyce, Behan and O’Casey. His works are represented internationally eg Ireland, Norway, France, England etc. Alan has been a finalist in a few art events his favourite being in the Blake Prize. He has had 60 solo shows, and dozens of group shows. His work includes installations and sculptures at various galleries in Sydney and overseas. The upcoming show includes paintings observing aspects of the Blue Mountains of NSW.
