Sam Bucca’s memorably melodic, Folk Punk ballads gain an extra punch in the face with the accompaniment of two fantastic musos – Dane Charlton and Lucius Culliton. From Wiradjuri Country, Sam’s penned poetry is worth witnessing live, any day of the week; with Lucius and Dane behind them, this just isn’t any ordinary Bucca gig!
In these very rare rhythm-section accompanied shows, the songs are not only amplified but the full spectrum of the song’s impacts can be felt. Dane Charlton, to be heard on the Double Bass (an instrument one must really hear live to fully appreciate it), is another Lithgow lover of music, a multi-instrumentalist and music coordinator at his local church. You’ll be caught off guard when Dane swells the room with a whole-body sound while bowing the big beast; it is utterly divine. Keeping the string things in time will be the delightful stick stylings of Lucius Culliton, who is back home after 10 years playing gigs of all sizes around the country. As a drummer of many genres, Lucius can capture the individual groove of each song for what they truly are and drive the songs home with the right balance of flair and ferocity. If you’ve ever been hypnotised by the Lithgow artist’s masterfully empathic lyricism or been escorted through everyday observations of how we manage our hearts in a brutal world by Sam’s mystifying voice – then you’ll want to hear this ensemble; and, given they don’t get out much, it’s advised you take any opportunity you can get! “
